NC Modernist Houses Receives 2013 Award From Historic Charlotte

Recognizing NCMH contribution to the Queen City’s architectural heritage

October 31, 2013 (Durham, NC) – North Carolina Modernist houses (NCMH), the award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to archiving, preserving, and promoting  Modernist residential design, received one of Historic Charlotte’s 2013 Blast For The Past Awards.

NCMH was recognized for its extensive digital archive of Modernist houses in the Queen City.  NCMH founder andhistoric_charlotte director George Smart attended the 13th annual Blast For The Past Preservation Honors and Silent Auction event held in the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte’s Center City district.

“NC Modernist Houses is an incredible achievement, and an essential site for anyone interested in the state’s modernist architecture,” said Historic Charlotte’s Executive Director Nicole McBeth. “It encourages people to learn about and protect mid-20th century developments in modern architecture.”
